About Lights Out
Lights Out is a free logic puzzle where every tap flips a bulb plus the bulbs directly above, below, left and right of it. The goal: switch every bulb off. Inspired by the classic handheld puzzle of the same name, it opens with a 3 by 3 board that one tap in the middle solves, then grows to 4 by 4 and 5 by 5. You have 90 seconds, and every cleared board adds 15 more. Each board pays 1 point per bulb on it, and every fourth board has a gold frame with a 5-point bonus and a coin. Stuck? Wait a few seconds for a hint. Play it in a browser tab, no download or microphone required, and take on the world top 10.
How To Play Lights Out
Tap A Bulb
Each tap flips that bulb plus the ones above, below, left and right of it.
Switch Them All Off
A board is done when every bulb is dark. Boards grow from 3 by 3 to 5 by 5.
Score Gold Boards
Every fourth board has a gold frame and adds 5 bonus points and a coin.
Race The Clock
You start with 90 seconds, and each cleared board adds 15 more.
Lights Out Tips
Tapping the same bulb twice cancels itself out, so only tap a bulb again when you want to undo it. The order of your taps does not matter, only which bulbs you tap. Plan the set, then tap them in any order. Try light chasing: tap the bulb right below each lit bulb, row by row from the top, to push every light down to the bottom row. Stuck? Stop tapping for 7 seconds and a green ring shows a bulb that belongs in the solution. Each cleared board adds 15 seconds, so quick clears buy you time for the 25-point 5 by 5 boards.
The first board is solved with one tap in the middle.
