A normal party game is limited by how many controllers you own. A voice game is limited by how loud your living room is willing to get. Because the microphone hears whoever speaks up, a new player can join by simply joining in, and a shy player can hang back without being locked out of the round.

How many people can play at once?
There is no player cap. The microphone picks up whoever is speaking, so you are limited by how many people can see the screen rather than by the game.
Do we each need our own device?
No. The usual setup is one laptop or TV that everyone shouts at together. If you would rather use a phone as the microphone, open the game on a TV and scan the QR code it shows you.
