Speech Practice Games for Home
Practising speech at home is easier when it does not feel like homework. In these games the screen only moves when the player uses their voice, so every round asks for another word, another sound or another change in volume. They are games, not a speech therapy programme, but they can make the practice between sessions a lot more fun.
Volume control: loud and quiet
Chicken Run is a good example: stay silent and the chicken stands still, talk and it runs, scream and it jumps. Going from quiet to loud on purpose, and back again, is the whole game. Scream Ball and the other screaming games focus on the loud end.
Pitch: high and low
Lumber Jack, Sheep Squeeze and DoReMi respond to how high or low the voice is, rather than how loud. Moving the voice up and down on purpose is turned into chopping, stretching and steering.
Clear single words
Voice Through, Emoji Game and Guess the Picture only react when the game recognises the word, so a clear, complete word gets the reward. Short words and picture prompts make them suitable for younger players.
Copying sounds
Mimic Game plays a sound and scores how closely the player copies it, which suits sound imitation practice and is silly enough that nobody minds trying again.
Using games alongside speech therapy
If you work with a speech and language therapist, show them the games and ask which ones fit the goals you are working on. These games give practice and motivation; they do not diagnose, measure progress or replace professional advice.

Common questions
Are these speech therapy games?
They are voice controlled games, not a therapy programme. They work well for extra speaking practice at home, and a therapist can suggest which ones fit a specific goal.
What age are they for?
The volume and pitch games need no reading, so they work for young children. The word games suit children who can name pictures, and adults can play every game.
Is it free?
Yes. The games are free to play in the browser with a microphone, with no download.
