Voice Control
Professor Lingo is a voice controlled language learning game with a wonderfully funny old professor. Pick French, Spanish, German or Italian and the professor says a word out loud and writes it on his chalkboard. Click the microphone and explain in English what it means: say the translation, or simply describe it in your own words, and an AI checks your answer while the professor goes hmmm. Get it right and he jumps for joy, get it wrong and he sighs dramatically, and either way he explains the word with a little joke or memory trick so it sticks. Ten words per lesson, never the same word twice in a lesson, and a report card at the end with every word you learned. Watch out for false friends like the German word Gift, which means poison! Great speaking and listening practice for kids, families and anyone learning a new language.
How To Play Professor Lingo
Pick a language, then explain each word out loud:
French, Spanish, German or Italian
Click a flag or say the language you want to be tested in today.
It means butterfly
Click the microphone and explain the word in English. A translation or a description in your own words both count, then press Send.
I don't know
Press I don't know to skip a word. The professor still tells you what it means.
Play again
After the report card, say Play Again for another lesson, or Switch Game to leave.
Tips
--> You do not need the exact word. Describing it works too, like "the red fruit that grows on trees" for apple. --> Be specific. Just "a fruit" or "an animal" is too vague, the professor wants to know which one. --> Press the speaker button to hear the word again before you answer. --> Watch out for false friends. Words that look like English often mean something completely different! --> Listen to the explanation after every word. The little jokes are there to help you remember. --> Press Space to start talking and Space again to send your answer.
Explain the word in English, in your own words!
